Mayra Hobrok

Standing for:

Cardiff South and Penarth

My key issues are:

  • Education for the youth

  • Rate of youth unemployment

  • Inclusion, rights and democracy

Candidate profile:

I am a hardworking, Year 8 student in Westbourne School, Penarth. Born in England but living in Wales, I love my community and  I care deeply about Wales. Wales is the best place in the world to grow up in! Inspired by my mother´s commitments to public service, I decided to become a member of  the Welsh Youth Parliament for these reasons:

The rate of youth unemployment is too high and young people are in need of better education, skills development, mentoring schemes to help equip them with the right tools to enter the employment market. Did you know that around 78% of young people were never consulted on what should be covered  in their lessons? The National curriculum should be  overhauled through a youth-led review. We believe that paying young people a lower National Minimum Wage than their adult counterparts because they are younger is age discrimination.

I want to promote young people’s rights, and empower individuals to defend their own rights and those of others and to remove  racism and  discrimination in our communities.

This election is about YOUR future, SEE IT, CHANGE IT! Speak your mind!
