Candidate profile:

Hello my name is Niamh Griffiths and I would like to be elected as  a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament because I believe that I can make welsh children's lives happier and healthier. The key issue that the Welsh Parliament don't really talk about is support for young carers, this subject means a lot to me as I am aware that there are children in my community that are young carers and are in need of support and confidence to speak to people about being a young carer.

Another subject that means a lot to me is children's fitness and health. Nowadays children tend to eat unhealthy food options. I would be keen to provide schools with cooking facilities to make children in wales become engaged with the enjoyment of fresh and healthy cooking. Social media has become a obsession and dangerous platform for many young children in Wales, putting  them at risk of being placed in a vulnerable position with unfamiliar adults and online identities. I would be keen to produce leaflets, that could be distributed in schools across Wales,  in a bid to raise awareness for both parents and pupils.

Thank you for considering my application.
