Candidate profile:

My name is Thomas Sims, I am 16 years old and I live in Ton Pentre, in the Rhondda Valley. The main reason I would like to become a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament is to ensure the young people of my community have their say about what they want in the community, and I want to become the young voice of the Rhondda. I would like to use my school, and the facilities there to reach out to young people and uncover their feelings about what needs to be changed in our local area.

I believe being elected to become a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament would bring effective points, passionate opinions and the voice of young people in my area to the attention of everyone else involved. I believe I would bring a range of skills forward, including impeccable communication and listening skills, which I have developed through volunteering in our local community centre. I have also been involved in sports coaching for two years, which has increased my ability to deal with and effectively communicate with all age groups, while trying to present them with what they want.
