Joel Ogbebor

Standing for:

Cardiff West

My key issues are:

  • Eradication of child poverty

  • Better mental-health for young people

  • Safer streets for children

Candidate profile:

My name is Joel and I am 15. I live at Canton; that makes me a member of the Cardiff West Constituency. I wish to assure you that I will make a great member of the Welsh Youth Parliament.

My skills and abilities include:

  • Communication skills: demonstrated while working as a member of school councils both in Severn Primary School, in Canton, Cardiff and at St Teilo’s Church in Wales High School.

  • Teamwork: successfully worked in teams to execute numerous projects including campaigns against bullying (School Council) and campaign against smoking (Public Health Wales).

  • Intellectual capability: won several academic awards (e.g. More Able and Talented Kids Award from St Teilo’s High School).

  • Community involvement and youth network: use my wide network (e.g. Member Re:store Youth Group, City Church Cardiff; social media, computer skills; and community festivals e.g. Riverside) to consult with young people in Cardiff West.

  • Vision: if elected into the Welsh Youth Parliament, three issues will be at the top of my agenda: eradication of child poverty, better mental-health for young people, and safer streets for children.

I will be very grateful if given the opportunity to represent the young people of Wales.

Thank you.
