Ania Quiros Edmunds

Standing for:

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr

My key issues are:

  • End gender-based discrimination

  • Increase inclusivity for LGBT+ youth

  • Mental health awareness and support

Candidate profile:

Everyday, I witness - either first-hand, as a mentor, or through my friends - the growing level of mental health issues, bullying, homophobia and gender-based discrimination in schools.

By studying A level politics and  through my passion for human rights, I have become increasingly determined to incite change and end the suffering and inequalities that recur among a majority of young people.

The opportunity to be a Welsh Youth Parliament member would enable me to address these issues that are ever-growing in our education system. I am determined to fight for these causes and to make our schools an environment in which everyone feels safe and accepted.

To fully represent those in my area, I would create an online forum in which they could post any concerns or problems that they wish to be addressed. The option of using the forum anonymously would also be available, with ballot boxes in schools offering the same level of discretion.

This would enable young people to be honest and frank in their submissions. It is time to address the lack of opportunity and casual discrimination, and to give young people the voice needed to have a say in our policies and our futures.
