Candidate profile:

Hello, My name is Megan Nicholson, I am 15 years old and i'm standing as a candidate in the welsh youth parliament elections for the vale of clwyd constituency. I am student at Rhyl High School, currently in year 11 studying GCSE. I go to young carers and denbighshire youth council. As part of Rhyl High School i am a peer mentor for new pupils, also on the school council and a senior prefect.

I am very passionate about what i believe in and would also consult with young people in the area to ensure they are represented and given a voice. I have spoken at a head teachers conference about personal social health education and have now been put forward to be an ambassador for personal social health education. As a young carer myself i would like to help other young people understand mental health. I know people that have been bullied and may not have received the correct help. I personally think that the bullying policy needs to be re-evaluated.

If elected i pledge to:

  • Look at the bullying policy.

  • To include more personal social health education lessons.

  • Help young people understand more about mental health.

Thank you
