Standing for:

Islwyn

My key issues are:

  • Lowering the voting age

  • Working hours

  • Retirement age for our generation

Candidate profile:

I have a wealth of experience of public speaking, including presenting at the First Give Awards 2018; I also possess the skills necessary to represent young people and seek to better my community - skills like communication, persuasion and acting as an intermediary between young people and adults, which I've developed as deputy head girl at Islwyn High School and, as a 2nd-Dan black belt, coaching at my Taekwondo group.

One of my greatest passions is reading, especially of poetry: in fact, I am proud to have received two commendations and to have been a 2017 winner of the international Foyle Young Poets Award. I believe that poetry is a platform which allows many young people to flourish and express themselves.

I am confident in my ability to engage with youths in my area, not only through school, but also via local guiding/scout groups and social media links. I hope to represent young people long-term as well as in immediacy, and to change the way we engage in politics and in our future, tackling issues such as voting and future employment. Anyone invested in such issues would do well to vote for me.
