Laurie Elen Thomas

Standing for:

Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire

My key issues are:

  • Support for mental health

  • The importance or otherwise of the Welsh Baccalaureate

  • GCSE needs to be improved via amendments

Candidate profile:

I would like to be a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament because the issues of my local community are important to me.

As I develop and learn more about the world, I am meeting more people and learning more about their problems – I would like to try my best to help them.

By joining the Parliament, I can shine light on the issues that truly matter to us. Matters such as mental health, potential improvements to GCSEs and the importance of keeping the A&E departments at Glangwili and Withybush General Hospitals.

I think that I am a suitable choice because I am an attentive listener and open to different ideas and opinions, and patient enough to be able to consider other ideas seriously, even if they are in contrast to my own ideas.

Even so, I am a strong and determined person when arguing for my beliefs.

By voting for me, you will be voting for someone who has many experiences of working as a member of a team and of leading it, as I am a member of the school's eco council as well as other societies. I consider myself a creative, confident person, who is willing to learn with persistence and motivation to complete a task to a high standard. Thank you
