Standing for:

My key issues are:

  • Mental health in schools

  • Rights of disabled people in our country

  • People’s poverty

Candidate profile:

My name is Iona, I'm 14 and I want to be a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament. I want to be a member because I love discussion and debate about the politics of our country. I also want to improve mental health awareness as it can sometimes be seen in a negative way and I want to change that. Currently, 'mainstream' schools do not help children with disabilities and mental illness. These children are not disabled enough to be placed in special units. My sister is autistic and she had to get out of school because of the lack of knowledge amongst the staff. I want to help these children and their families to have better lives. I not only want to help disabled children but everyone, because everyone's mental health is good or bad. I also want to help with the poverty of our country.

Lastly, I say that I'm a passionate young woman, who wants to improve our country for the next generation. This is for your children or grandchildren. Vote for me to help you. Thank you.
