Radhiya Islam

Standing for:

Cardiff South and Penarth

My key issues are:

  • Discrimination in school and work

  • Internet safety for the youths

  • Healthy eating

Candidate profile:

I would like to be a member of the Welsh youth parliament because I want to make changes for the better for Wales. It is important to me to make sure that people’s voices are listened to and actions are taken. I believe that I can make a change in my community.

Furthermore having this bigger platform invites more opportunities for so many young people to further explore the new opportunities that can be offered to them. Consulting with the people in my area can be done via social media, youth clubs, meetings, community events and in schools. Constant updates of what is going to be done with their ideas will encourage more of the younger generation to feel comfortable with their opinions being valued especially if someone from their audience group is representing them.

In terms of skills and experiences to which I think will make me a good WYP was school council in high school and primary school. My involvement in meetings and communication benefits this role. I believe that if you want to change Wales for the best, ensure your ideas are taken into account and want someone to make a difference you should support me.
